Snowboards are the primary tool used for the sport of snowboarding. Snowboarding is one of the top winter sports, and it has grown in such popularity that it is now an Olympic sport. While snowboards vary in size, thickness and other important aspects, all snowboards consist of similar design. The design is flat, long and smooth. The only downside to snowboards are the costs of purchasing one. They can be expensive. However, making snowboards is something very possible for anyone to accomplish.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4-foot by 8-foot 1/16-inch sheets of wood Sandpaper Old pair of boots 8 screws at least 2 inches in length (per snowboard) Screwdriver Wood polishing solution
  1. Step 1

Outline the ends of the wood for guidance of where to cut. Base this upon an existing snowboard. You can take measurements in a store, or use a friend's snowboard while designing your own.

  2. Step 2

Cut the ends of the wood into smooth, round shapes.

  3. Step 3

Sand the board to create a smooth surface.

  4. Step 4

Place the boots on the snowboard at shoulder-width apart. Face the boots appropriately so that the dominant leg is behind the other leg. That is, if you are dominant with your left leg, face the boots towards the left. Also do this vice versa.

  5. Step 5

Screw each boot to the board with four screws per boot. Place the screw in the boot. Screw through the sole of the boot until it goes through the wood. A screw should be placed around the top-right, top-left, bottom-right and bottom-left of the boot.

  6. Step 6

    Polish the snowboard.

Tips & Warnings
  • Used or new snowboard pieces will make for an easier building process. The best woods to make snowboards out of are the strong, sturdy types, such as maple, ivory and ash.
  • Screwing the screws in too tightly can crack the board. Be sure to go slowly and cautiously during this process.
