Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a fruit to use in addition to the banana. Consider strawberries or other berries, peaches, pineapple, or whatever is in season. You can also mix fruits or add more banana.

  2. Step 2

Peel, remove seeds, and slice fruit if necessary.

  3. Step 3

Place prepared fruit, banana, ice cubes and orange juice in blender.

  4. Step 4

Cover and blend at high speed until ingredients are combined, ice cubes are dissolved and smoothie is desired consistency.

  5. Step 5

Pour into tall glass and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add-in possibilities are endless with smoothies. You might try sugar or honey to taste; 1 tbsp. wheat germ; 1 tbsp. brewer's yeast; or lemon or lime juice and zest. Honey, mango, lime and candied ginger are a great combination!
  • If you freeze the fruit before making the smoothie, the drink will be colder when blended. You can buy bags of frozen mixed fruits at supermarkets, but make sure you buy unsweetened fruit.
  • You can use another kind of fruit juice or even water in place of orange juice.
  • You can leave out the banana and add more fruit instead, but the banana helps thicken the smoothie.

on 8/8/2006 Instead of using fruits, I used avocado and celery. It may sound disgusting, but it was a great drink to bring along jogging. I strongly suggest this method if you are striving for a healthier, cheaper drink.
