Let a bath tea smooth away stress and help you sleep.

Many herbs are purported to have calming effects when consumed. Some of those same plants also can help promote sleep when you add them to a warm bath. You can add them directly to the tub, as herbal tea bags, or you can brew them first and then pour the liquid into a relaxing, warm bath. Personalize the herb blend to make your favorite aromatic combination.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 cups lavender
  • 3 cups chamomile
  • 6-inch muslin squares

    • 4

Bring a quart of water to a low boil.

    • 5

Drop a bag in the hot water. Cover the pot and remove it from the heat.

    • 6

Tips & Warnings

  • Hops, lemon balm and valerian also help with relaxation and sleep. Mix them with the lavender and chamomile flowers.

  • Mix lavender fragrance oil with equal parts of vodka and water to make a linen spray to continue the benefits of the bath tea. Spritz your pillow lightly with the mixture.
