Make an eBay Photo Backdrop for Less than $1

Photography doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes it can be easy, inexpensive, and still look professional. Learn how to make an eBay backdrop for small items that helps your photos appear professional and appealing with no distracting clutter.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 piece of poster board
  • tape
  1. Step 1

All you need is 1 sheet of white poster board and some tape.

  2. Step 2

Tape the poster board to a table and wall. You can also tape the poster board to a table with a box behind it.

  3. Step 3

Affix the poster board so that it is curved but not creased.

  4. Step 4

Use painter’s tape if you are worried about tape damaging your wall or tabletop. Painter’s tape removes easily and won’t damage hard surfaces.

  5. Step 5

You don’t have to have expensive lighting. Just set up your “studio” near a window or natural light. Place the item in the center of your set-up.

  6. Step 6

Take the photo. Be sure to take several shots so you will have a few to choose from.

  7. Step 7

Crop and edit your photo. Editing is the most important part. Adjust the color and remove any sunspots if necessary. The photo will appear clean and professional.

  8. Step 8

For extra variety, experiment with different colored backgrounds.

Tips & Warnings
  • A picture speaks a thousand words on eBay. Take your time and make sure your photo looks as good a possible. Retake several times if necessary.
  • Experiment with different light sources and different color backgrounds.
  • Don't ever copy another seller's photo. This is against eBay policy and your listing can be removed, or worse, your eBay account can be closed.
