Taking care of your coin collection is essential to maintaining the value of the coins. Collecting coins is a great hobby and a coin collection can actually sometimes be a great investment with a good payoff. Here is how to take of that coin collection of yours.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The coins in your collection should always be protected from exposure. Storing the coins in a safe, lock box, or cabinet is a way of preventing over exposure to elements such as water.

  2. Step 2

Use protective plastic sleeves for your coins. This will protect the coins from getting scratched or dirty. There are many stores that sell plastic protective sleeves specifically designed for coin collections. There are also very neat books for sale that you can slide you coins in to make viewing easier while still protecting them.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you coins are clean before placing them in any kind of protections. A good way to clean them is to use latex gloves and solvents such as vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and lemon juice.
