Things You'll Need:
- a low caliber gun
- camoflauge
-
Step 1
Check with your state Department of Natural Resources to find out when squirrel is in season, as well as any permits required and what the daily limit is. You'll also want to find out where you can legally hunt if you are not using private land.
-
Step 2
Check out your hunting area. Look for oak trees and squirrel nests (groups of leaves in the fork of a tree). Find a good spot to sit.
-
Step 3
When you actually go hunting, get into the woods early. Squirrels usually become active at dawn. You'll want to wear your camoflauge to help blend in with the background. Be as quiet as possible. You don't want to scare the squirrels away.
-
Step 4
It's easiest to shoot a squirrel when it's on the ground or on the trunk of a tree. Aim for the head.

on 12/7/2008 I like the tip about not shooting them in the nest. It is illegal and the squirrel dies for nothing. I am a pro hunting advocate, but strongly belive that you don't kill something you aren't going to use.
