Remember that the best way to prevent accidents is to design and decorate the bathroom with safety in mind. Consult a professional contractor if necessary.

Be sure that the floor does not become slippery when wet. Even just the moisture from a warm shower can cause slippery floors. To prevent slipping, lay a bath rug next to the shower or tub and in front of the vanity. Check that the bath rug has a tactile backing so that it doesn't slide across a smooth floor.

Minimize moisture buildup that can cause slippery surfaces by opening a window or turning on the exhaust fan when showering or bathing.

Prevent slips in the bathtub by adding a rubber mat to the bottom of the tub. When remodeling or acquiring a new bathtub, choose one with a built-in, non-slip textured surface.

Make sure that all electrical outlets in the bathroom are grounded to prevent electrical shock. When in doubt, consult an electrician and have a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlet installed.
