You can make a drastic difference in your kitchen with very little money just by repainting outdated hardware on your cabinets. You would be surprised how much it can change the whole look of your kitchen, especially your cabinets.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Screwdriver
  • Soap (Ammonia based)
  • Bucket of hot water
  • Sponge or Scrub brush
  • Sandpaper (fine grit)
  • Primer (spray is best)
  • Spray paint
  • Newspaper
  • Foam blocks
  1. Step 1

The first step is to remove your hardware from the cabinet.

  2. Step 2

Put the hardware into your bucket of water and soap. Let them soak.

  3. Step 3

Use your sponge or scrub brush to remove any grit or grime from hardware.

  4. Step 4

Sand the hardware with fine grit paper and rinse with clean water-let air dry or use no-lint towel.

  5. Step 5

Put down newspaper and lay styrofoam blocks on paper. Put the hardware into the blocks by the screws.(If you don't have the styrofoam blocks just paint one side let it dry and then paint the other.)

  6. Step 6

Spray hardware with primer using long back and forth strokes-hold can about 6" from hardware.(Primer is used to help paint stick better to the surface)

  7. Step 7

Once the primer has dried, spray paint with the color you chose just like you did the primer until the hardware is covered completely. You can repeat the final step as many times as you need to,to make sure hardware is covered sufficiently, just make sure to let it dry completely in between coats.

  8. Step 8

YOU DID IT! Put your "new" hardware back on your cabinets and see what a HUGE difference it makes.
