How to Make the World's BEST Jell-O Shots

Jell-O is a versatile, fun food for any occasion. Jell-O shots make a great ice-breaker at parties and can be made in a variety of colors and flavors to your liking.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bottle of Malibu rum
  • Variety of Jell-O boxes (small boxes)
  • 2 oz plastic cups
  • 2 oz plastic cup lids (optional)
  • Water
  • Can of whipped cream
  • OPTIONAL: dishes to make three tiers
  1. Step 1

    For starters, get several small boxes of Jell-O. Cherry and orange are popular, but there are a multitude of fruity flavors to choose from, so mix it up. There are some new, tropical flavors on the market--check your grocer's shelves for choices.

    Boil one cup of water and set aside one cup of Malibu rum. While the water boils, start lining up your plastic cups on a serving tray, large plate, or tiered plates.

    Next, dissolve the powdered Jell-O in the boiling water. Once fully dissolved, add the rum to the mixture. Make sure all the granules are mixed, no-one wants gritty Jell-O shots!

  4. Step 4

    Fill 2 oz containers with the liquid Jell-O/rum mixture about 1/3 full. If you are using lids, affix those and put in fridge for at least four hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • Non-alcoholic Jell-O shots can also be made in a different color for kids at the party
  • Whipped cream can be sprayed on top prior to serving
  • Must pre-plan, as they take at least 4 hrs to congeal
  • In lieu of birthday cake, set up a two-to-three tiered arrangement and set your shots in assorted colors randomly on each tier. With whipped cream and a candle in the top one/several, light it and sing happy birthday to the guest of honor
  • Color co-ordinate shots based on the occasion (i.e. red, blue, and plenty of whipped cream for flag, election, veteran's, memorial day or the fouth of July.
  • Contains alcohol, use discretion, adults 21+

on 11/24/2008 I have an issue with "shooting" them. They gag me every time. I usually have to eat them with a spoon! Sad but true...........love them though! Will try them!
