These cars are made available to individuals who are struggling financially and need a vehicle in order to get to work and complete errands (such as shopping for groceries). Log onto the Opportunity Cars website. This website will help you find organizations in your area that sell donated cars to those in need. Not all charities listed in your phone book sell donated cars, so this website makes your search much easier.

Click the "Find a Program" link at the very top of the home page.

Use the search option to locate programs in your area. You can search by zip code, by state or by city name. Click the "Go" tab next to the search option you have selected.

Browse through the options on the "Program Locations" page that appears after your search has concluded. There will be links for each program listed. Click on a link and you will find contact information for that program.

Click on the link for the home page of the program you've selected. Some of those links will take you right to information you need in order to purchase a donated car from that organization. Other links will just take you to the home page for that particular program. If there is information available on buying a donated car, read through it thoroughly and carefully. This information will include requirements you must meet in order to buy a donated car as well as help you can receive (i.e. loans).

Call the organization you've selected about buying donated cars. You will find the contact information either on the home page for the organization or that program's page on the Opportunity Cars website.

Every program has different qualifications for buying a donated car. For most, you will need to meet federal poverty guidelines. You must also have a stable job and work a certain amount of hours per week. Some organizations only sell donated cars to individuals with children, as well.
