Things You'll Need:
- Enough lemons to juice about 3 per day
- 3/4 cup maple syrup per day
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne per day
- at least 64 ounces of water per day
- Smooth Move Tea by Traditional Medicinals
- 2 teaspoons salt water dissolved in 1 quart lukewarm water
- Time, patience and a desire to improve your health
- Freshly squeezed orange juice for ending the cleanse
- Vegetables, organically grown if possible, and enough water to make a soup for the first solid food after the cleanse
-
Step 1
THE NIGHT BEFORE YOU BEGIN: This cleansing process is almost like a juice fast, or an extreme diet, but it is neither. It is a process specifically designed to clear your alimentary canal of anything which might be irritating or clogging it and to give your body a fresh start. Therefore, on the night before you begin your cleanse, brew a cup of Smooth Move Tea, found in health stores and some grocery stores, for 15 minutes, and drink it before bed.
-
Step 2
THE FIRST DAY: When you get up, squeeze 3 lemons or as many lemons as it takes to get 3/4 cup juice. Add it along with the 3/4 cup maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper and 64 ounces of water to a 2-quart pitcher, or a large thermos, if you need to spend the day away from home. Drink this mixture all day long, every time you feel the slightest hunger. If you use it up, it's okay to mix up another batch and drink as much as 90 ounces of it a day. It tastes peculiar at first, but after a day or two, it tastes pretty good. But this cleansing is not intended as a gourmet treat, so don't expect that from it.
-
Step 3
At the end of the day, brew another cup of Smooth Move tea for 15 minutes, and drink it before bed. You will do this every day of the cleanse.
-
Step 4
THE SECOND DAY: Mix 2 teaspoons of sea salt into a quart (four cups) of lukewarm water and drink it all. This will not affect blood pressure, as it will flush straight through your system over a course of about two hours. If you need to be away from home early in the day, you MUST wake up at least two hours early to deal with the flushing process. This is extremely important. You should do the salt water flush every morning of the cleanse, starting on the second day, but if it's too difficult for you, it's okay to do it every other day instead. However, for the full cleansing effect, it's best to do it every day, if you can.
-
Step 5
Continue in this manner for 4 days, and evaluate your feelings and your progress. You will have lost weight, and you may not be as hungry as you were in the beginning. At this point, you will have begun to experience some of the health benefits of the cleanse; it's time to decide whether you want to go on for a few more days, quit the cleanse, or commit to a longer experience. The longer you can go, up to 21 days, the better you will feel at the end, though people typically will stop after eight or ten days.
-
Step 6
When you decide to stop the cleanse and resume eating, have a final dose of Smooth Move tea on the last day, and have oranges ready to squeeze in the morning. Drink an eight-ounce glass of freshly squeezed orange juice first thing in the morning. Continue drinking orange juice, slowly, but as much as you like, throughout the day. Have fresh fruit and/or vegetables for lunch if desired, but you may continue with just orange juice for the day.
-
Step 7
For your first real meal, take whatever fresh vegetables you like, cut them up into bite-size pieces, and put them in a soup pot. Add whatever salt, pepper or herbs and spices you like to it. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour until the vegetables are quite tender. Eat the soup with whole-grain crackers or whole grain bread. Your appetite will not be as big as you expect, so start with a very small serving and wait for 20 minutes to a half hour before having seconds.
