  1. Step 1

Using your web browser, type in IRS, and go to the official sight.
    Click on "individual".
Go to 1040-ES . Make sure you have the instructions and the forms pamphlet. It should be about seven pages.

  2. Step 2

Read the instructions. Do the worksheet to find out how much you must pay.(If you do not know already.) Print out the payment coupons.

  3. Step 3

Mail in on due dates: April 15
    June 15
    September 15
January 15* of the following year.

Be sure to mail to the address for the state you live in. It is different for different states.

*However, if you file before February 2 and pay the total tax due, you need not file this payment.

Tips & Warnings
  • A simple way to make sure you do not receive penalties, is to pay 110% of last years tax divided into four payments. And remember to file your state quarterly payments if required. If you cannot send the entire amount, it is better to send as much as you can. That applies to being late also. Send ASAP.
  • Check out this information with the IRS or with your tax adviser. I have filed quarterly returns many times with no problems. The information required on the forms is your name, address, and social security number or identification number. And of course the amount you are paying. You don't need to pay someone to do this for you. It really is easy.
