Ho Ho Ho!

Though this seasons economy has made money tight there is no need to give up ALL of the wonderful things about Christmas... You can still give the kids "Santa Claus" without spending $300 on a suit. Here is a cheap and easy way to make the jolly old fellow come to life!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red Sweatshirt
  • Red Sweatpants
  • White Faux Fur
  • Jumbo Loopy Chenille
  • Glue
  • This elastic cord
  1. Step 1

First off... Before you go out and buy all of the materials go and check a few thrift stores, you will be able to save even MORE money if you can find most of your materials there... you may even be able to find a cheap used Santa suit within your budget!

  2. Step 2

Take your faux fur and cut strips long and wide enough to cover the elastic cuff area and the elastic waist area on your sweatshirt. You may now glue the strips onto the elastic areas.
*To prevent the cuffs and waistband from sealing together place toilet paper rolls inside the cuffs, and newspaper along the waistband.

  3. Step 3

Place some newspaper inside of the sweatshirt. Cut a strip of the faux fur measuring from the collar to the waistband and proceed to glue that down the center of the shirt.

  4. Step 4

Cut 2 4-5in. triangles out of the faux fur and glue around the collar of the shirt... You are now finished with your Santa suit top!

  5. Step 5

Cut the elastic ankle parts of your sweatpants off. Measure 2 strips of faux fur to wrap around the bottoms of the pants. Glue the strips onto the ankles of the pants. You are now finished with your pants!

  6. Step 6

To create Santa's Curly White Hair and Beard take your Chenille and wrap it around your elastic band... measure the band to the shape of your head and tie. You can "trim" the beard to create the facial hair you are looking for. The hair is simple... just take a large amount and drape it over your head to cover your hair, and simply cover with a Santa hat. (You can find cheap Santa hats at most dollar stores)

  7. Step 7

To top off your look consider grabbing an old pair of glasses, some black boots, and some white gloves.
