Pepsi vs. Coke. Which is best? This is one of the more pressing problems of our time, and people are deeply divided on the issue. While the debate is further-reaching than merely taste, the question of taste is a question that everyone must answer.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 Cups
  • Measuring cup
  • Tape
  • Writing utensil
  • Notebook
  • 2 cans of Pepsi
  • 2 cans of Coke
  1. Step 1

Decide if you even care which one tastes better. With hundreds of other flavors available, that's thousands of x vs. y combinations. Ask yourself why you care about this one.

  2. Step 2

Don't drink any Pepsi or Coke for a week before the experiment.

  3. Step 3

Brush your teeth, and wait three hours.

  4. Step 4

Tape a piece of tape to the bottom of the first cup, and write "Coke" on it. Fill the cup halfway with Coke.

  5. Step 5

Tape a piece of tape to the bottom of the second cup, and write "Pepsi" on it. Fill the cup halfway with Pepsi.

  6. Step 6

Tape a piece of tape to the bottom of the third cup, and write "1/2C 1/2P". Fill the cup halfway with equal parts Coke and equal parts Pepsi.

  7. Step 7

Tape a piece of tape to the bottom of the fourth cup, and write "2/3C 1/3P". Fill this cup halfway with 2/3 Coke, and 1/3 Pepsi.

  8. Step 8

Tape a piece of tape to the bottom of the fifth cup, and write "1/3C 2/3P". Fill the cup halfway with 1/3 Coke, and 2/3 Pepsi.

  9. Step 9

Mix the cups until you forget which is which.

  10. Step 10

Pick a cup, and take a drink. Rate the taste on a scale of 1 to 10, and write it down. Place this cup furthest away from you so you know it was the first one rated. Rinse your mouth with water.

  11. Step 11

Pick a cup, and take a drink. Rate the taste on a scale of 1 to 10, and write it down. Place this cup next furthest away from you so you know it was the next one rated. Rinse your mouth with water.

  12. Step 12

Repeat Step 10 until all the drinks have been rated.

  13. Step 13

Take the tape off the bottom of the cup furthest away from you, and without looking at it, place it in the top of the next page in the notebook.

  14. Step 14

Take the tape off the bottom of the cup next furthest away from you, and without looking at it, place it below the last piece of tape in the notebook.

  15. Step 15

Repeat Step 14 until the tape from each cup has been removed.

  16. Step 16

If you want to be positive you get good results, repeat this experiment for a total of five days in a row. When you're ready to see the results, continue to the next step.

  17. Step 17

Look at your results. If you went 5 days, average each combination's ratings together. The one with the highest rating is the tastiest.

Tips & Warnings
  • For more accurate results, don't drink any Pepsi or Coke for a month before the experiment instead of only a week.
  • If you don't feel like waiting a week before the experiment, then stop what you're doing, and start the experiment now.
  • For more accurate results, go longer than five days, as well as at different times throughout the year.
  • Test different amounts of each drink for more interesting results. For example, try 1/4 Coke and 3/4 Pepsi, or 3/5 Coke and 2/5 Pepsi.
  • If going the whole five days, make sure you don't drink Pepsi and Coke outside the experiment.
