I love Chai tea and created this version of Chai oatmeal that is made in the microwave. The whole breakfast takes about 5 minutes to create.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Measuring cup
  • Quick cooking oatmeal
  • Large soup bowl
  • A handful of raisins
  • Brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger and cardamon
  • Microwave
  • Milk

Measure out 1/2 cup of quick cooking oatmeal. Throw in a handful of raisins. The raisins can be left out if you don't like raisins. Craisins or nuts can be added instead. Measure out 1 cup of milk. Put into the microwave for 2 minutes. My microwave is 1000 watts so adjust the time accordingly. Watch so that it doesn't boil over.

  2. Step 2

When the timer sets off, remove the dish of oatmeal from the microwave. Add the brown sugar to taste (about 1 tbsp. seems good). Add a good size tsp. of cinnamon, a one fourth to one half tsp of ginger and cardamon.

  3. Step 3

Check the consistency of the oatmeal when it the timer goes off. Bowl is hot so use a hotpad to remove from the microwave. If consistency is too thick add a bit of milk. If its not thick enough, let it sit for a couple of minutes as the oatmeal will thicken upon standing. ENJOY!

Tips & Warnings
  • While your oatmeal is microwaving, get out the brown sugar and the spices that go into it.
  • Get your tea or coffee and juice ready too.
  • Make sure that your cooking bowl is microwave safe.
  • Do not cook with the spoon in the bowl.
