Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pet(s)
  1. Step 1

The first step is to gather supplies. A kit should have a weeks worth of supplies and include food, water, can opener, first aid kit, leashes, collars, tin pans, litter, bowls, crates, and blankets at a minimum.

  2. Step 2

The second step is to have important contact information such as friends numbers, vet numbers, and other important numbers close by incase you need help or advice.

  3. Step 3

Place an emergency sticker on your front and back door. You can purchase these at your local pet store. On these stickers, you can write how many pets you have and what kind incase emergency personnel need to evacuate your house.

  4. Step 4

Invest in pet insurance. There are many companies out there, some of which pay up to 80% of all vet bills. Some more popular brands of insurance and credit cards include VPI and care credit. Plans usually start around $20 for dogs and $15 for cats.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never leave an animal tied up in the backyard. Too many flash foods are occurring and animals are drowning for no good reason.
