Things You'll Need:
- butter sugar egg vanilla extract all-purpose flour baking powder salt

Step 1
1/2 cup butter (no substitutes)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt -
Step 2
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 3
In a mixing bowl (or your stand mixer), cream butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy looking.

Beat in egg and vanilla

Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl and slowly add to creamed mixture and mix well.

Pour dough on to wax paper. Roll dough into a log on the wax paper, Roll dough up in the wax paper, than freeze. for 1 hour.

Step 7
When dough hardens it's ready to be cut.
Cut dough into 1/4 inch circles lay on cookie sheet 1 inch apart -
Step 8
Bake at 350 for 12 -15 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
Cool on a wire rack.

on 12/15/2008 My kids love vanilla wafers and boy are they starting to get pricy. I never saw a recipe for vanilla wafers until now. I will certainly try it out. Thanks for sharing.
