The critical part of qigong practice is to concentrate the mind. This is the state of deep meditation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The most commonly used method is to focus the mind on a certain location of the body. For example, the areas of the lower abdomen. An object outside the body can also be used.

  2. Step 2

Observation is another commonly used method. This is done through concentrating the mind on certain images. Imagine using the eyes to look at a certain part of your own body. You can also focus your mind and imagine an image outside the body when your eyes are closed.

  3. Step 3

Mantra-recitation is using mental recitation of a mantra. When practicing qigong, you can silently read certain phrases, such as “relax.”

  4. Step 4

To focus the mind, you still need to be relaxed and do it naturally. Again, do not use too much efforts or try too hard, which may lead to opposite results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Other methods for regulating the mind include breath-counting methods.
