Things You'll Need:
- A budget
- jobs, if possible
- Determination
- Discipline
- Perseverance
-
Step 1
Sit down as a family and make a list of things that realistically, you can do without until things get better and the economy improves.
-
Step 2
Things on this list can include: Cable Television, name brand clothing, highly priced restaurants, vacations that involve air flights and hotels etc. Pretty much any luxury that anyone can live without.
-
Step 3
Sit down with your family and make a substitute list.
-
Step 4
This list can include: Instead of going to the movies and paying high prices for tickets and movie snacks, rent movies at home and make your own snacks like popcorn, etc., Instead of lavish vacations, plan a road trip to places where you know people and can offer you a place to stay. Getting creative and using your imagination is key.
-
Step 5
During this economy struggle learn to be thankful for what you truly have and what you don't have. This helps you look at the brighter side of things.
-
Step 6
If a loved one is without work, it's everyone's responsibility to pitch in the best they can whether it be with extra chores around the house etc. Not complaining is the biggie!
-
Step 7
Help your loved one on a job search, maybe everyone who is old enough in the family can try to get a job as well to help make ends meet! Be prepared not to make a whole lot of money, even what your worth right now (i.e college degree etc.) because of the economy everyone is struggling. Take what you can get!
-
Step 8
Be encouraged, this won't last forever, the economy will eventually come around and make things better and easier on everyone. We just have to cope with the pinches right now!

on 12/15/2008 I've notice on many of the financial articles the first step is planning. This definaltely is the first and foremst step in my mind. You have to know where you are going financially to get to where you want to be.
