Things You'll Need:
- Sheets of newspaper Scissors 1 pair of ladies tights 1 wire coat hanger for each sheet of paper you want to make Blender Large sink or container White glue Water Food coloring Iron
-
Step 1
Cut up the newspaper into two-inch squares by hand or with scissors. Cut off both legs from the pair of tights.
-
Step 2
Bend the wire hanger into the shape and size of the sheet of paper that you wish to make. Stretch one leg of the tights over the bent wire so that it is tight and flat.
-
Step 3
Place some pieces of newspaper into the blender, about ¾-way full. Pour in 1cup of water. Blend the paper on high power for at least 3 minutes, until the paper is completely disintegrated. Add some food coloring in colors of your choice. Blend again to mix it evenly into the newspaper pulp.
-
Step 4
Pour 1cup of water into a large container. Add 2 tbsp of glue to the water. Add the blended pulp and use your hands to mix it really well.
-
Step 5
Slide the tights-covered, wire frame into this wet pulp and scoop it up very slowly, letting as much water as possible drain through the tights, leaving the pulp behind. If you are making more than one sheet of recycled paper, make sure that you stir the mixture before you take out the next scoop.
-
Step 6
Place your frame in a warm, dry and airy place and leave it be until completely dry. You may, for example, place it in a sunny area outdoors if there is no threat of rain, or place it in an airy cupboard. Peel the sheet of paper gently off the frame after it has completely dried.
-
Step 7
Set you iron at its highest setting and iron the paper. This will help to steam out any residual moisture. Now your paper is ready to use. The paper will be fairly delicate so be gentle when you use it.
