We could all use a few extra dollars around the holidays and this is a great time to find small jobs that can pay big bucks.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First be confident that you can find something and be good at it. If you interview with someone for a temporary job they will want to see that you know you can do the job and do it well. If you can convince them that you will be responsible and that you care about the job you are likely to get it.

  2. Step 2

Think creatively. You may be able to think of what people need most often around the holidays even if you don't see an advertisement for it. For example, if like dancing at parties, let people know that you can spice up their company party by leading a group in a dance contest or teaching a small lesson to get the group going on the dance floor.

  3. Step 3

How about babysitting? Many more people want to go out during the holidays and you will find opportunities to help them out with their child care. This is a very responsible job so take it seriously and make sure that you really do care about the children you would be caring for. Set up the schedule of care ahead of time so you will know how to reach the parents, if you will be feeding the children and an other rules.

  4. Step 4

A parking valet is a great holiday job. Valet companies need extra people for home parties and for company parties. You must be responsible in this job. You will be driving someone else's car and sometimes they are very expensive cars. If you do a good job, are efficient and friendly you may get a very good tip from the customer and the employer will keep you on the list for future jobs.

  5. Step 5

Catering companies use a lot of freelance people especially around the holidays. They will be glad to hear from you if you have any service experience at all. Call all the catering companies ahead of time so that they can put you on their list. Keep in mind that even though you will be at a party, you will not be drinking. You will most likely be let go without pay and will not be asked back if you get drunk on the job.

  6. Step 6

Christmas tree lots! They spring up all over town and each one needs helpers. Make sure to agree with the owner of the business what and when the pay will be and what the hours will be. You may be able to write your own ticket if you can prove that you are responsible, reliable and efficient. Sometimes it can be heavy lifting and physical work so make sure you are up for that.

  7. Step 7

Gift wrapping is a fun job for the holidays. Make sure you do know how to do it well. The employer may ask you to do a sample very quickly while they are watching you. Visit department stores and malls in person to get the best result in your search. Some stores already have their own wrapping departments, but they are sure to need extra help and you could be the one they pick.
