This is a fun activity for young children.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Construction paper, preferably orange.
  • Black Tempura paint
  • Googly eyes
  • Red Construction paper
  • Black Marker
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush
  • Elmers glue or gluestick
  • Paint smock or old shirt
  1. Step 1

Get the orange construction paper ready for hand prints.

  2. Step 2

Put on a smock or an old shirt to protect clothing.

  3. Step 3

Paint both hands with black tempura paint.

  4. Step 4

After painting hands be sure they remain face down to avoid touching anything until you are ready to firmly press the hands down onto the construction paper.

  5. Step 5

Place hands sideways (fingers pointing left and right) and press down onto construction paper.

  6. Step 6

Hold hands down for 5 seconds to ensure the prints are visible on the paper.

  7. Step 7

Wash hands immediately after to avoid getting on clothing, furniture, etc.

  8. Step 8

When the hand prints dry, draw the top of a cat's head and ears with a black marker. (If working with young children, have an adult or older child draw the head and ears.)

  9. Step 9

Glue the googly eyes inside the drawn head.

  10. Step 10

Cut out a red circle and glue on as the cats nose.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure you or the child doing the project wears a smock or old shirt to protect clothing from the black paint.
