Just the smell of these yams cooking, will remind you of when Grandma made yams at Thanksgiving! It's really quick and very easy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 large cans Yams in syrup.
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1/2 C. Brown Sugar
  • 1-2quart casserole dish or saucepan.
  1. Step 1

First, empty both cans of Yams into the dish or pan, syrup and all.You can increase the amount of the cans and also the size of the pan or dish you choose to use. Just increase the cooking time, 10 to 15 minutes in the oven.5 minutes more in the microwave.

  2. Step 2

Gently stir in 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar. Stir about a minute. This will prevent the brown sugar from collecting on the bottom of the pan and burning. If it does, it turns hard. And trying to get it unstuck while cooking can cause serious burns if it gets splashed.

  3. Step 3

Top the Yams with 2 Tablespoons of real butter(for best taste).

  4. Step 4

Now if you used a casserole dish, you can either bake them for 40 minutes on 350 degrees...or microwave them, covered for 10 minutes on high. And if you used a saucepan, you cook them on medium heat for about 20 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • When using a saucepan, stir the yams every so often to make sure the brown sugar doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.You should even stir the dish in the microwave halfway through cooking time.
  • Always use hotpads when removing from ovens, and remember not to eat them too fast, as they are very hot!
