Rent a Car Online

When traveling in the United States, having a rental car available for you upon arrival will save time and usually get you a better rate. You can reserve and rent a car online and have the car of your choice ready for you at any destination around the country.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Compare online car rental prices. Check with the individual major car rental dealerships online via their websites to get a rate estimate for the dates you will need the rental car. To save time with your online rental car search, many travel websites allow you to enter your travel dates and they will compare prices and give you a quote. You will be able to choose not only the dates you would like the car, but what type of car as well.

  2. Step 2

Reserve your rental car. You will need a major credit card to reserve your rental car. Some companies allow you to use a debit card with a Visa logo, be sure to check with the agency first. Make sure you are entering your information at a verified travel or major car rental website.

  3. Step 3

Check with the car rental service you have chosen to find out the identification process. You will need a driver’s license and usually one other form of identification. Major credit cards, passports and bills with the correct name and address are usually acceptable and will be required when you pick up the car.

  4. Step 4

Understand that many car rental companies require a minimum age of 21 to rent a vehicle. And anyone under the age of 25 may be charged extra.

  5. Step 5

Be aware that many car rental services will pick you up and take you to your rental car as well as drop you off at a nearby location after you return your rental car. This is a complimentary service, but be sure to ask your particular car rental location if they do this and any possible restrictions.
