Microsoft Word 2007 has many great features. One feature I use all the time as it comes in handy and that is adding mathematical equations into Microsoft Word. One part is how to add a fraction as this is the most common thing used in the equation add on. Here's the simple instructions on adding in fractions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Software
  1. Step 1

Open up a Microsoft Word document. Once open, look at the toolbar located at the top. Select Insert.

  2. Step 2

A new selection of items appear on the same toolbar. Near the far right, select Equation. After selecting, you will notice a little Equation box appears in your document, along with new selections on the top toolbar.

  3. Step 3

You will see selections for Tools, Symbols, and Structures. The first one for Structures is named Fraction, Select that.

  4. Step 4

A little drop down menu will appear for you to select the type of fraction you would like to add. If you want just a regular numerator and denominator fraction, select the first choice to add it. It will then be added in to your Equation box in your document.

  5. Step 5

This is where you can add in your numbers. Click inside each box and add in the number or numbers of your choice. If you click in directly in front of the fraction, you can add a number there as well to get a whole number mixed fraction.

  6. Step 6

When you are done, just simply click outside of the Equation Box and you will have your fraction!

Tips & Warnings
  • An easy way to add numbers into the fraction boxes is instead of clicking inside each one, you can use your up and down arrows to get the box selected, then simply add your numbers.
