Salt dough ornaments are a fun, easy craft to do with your children OR to just use to decorate this year's Christmas tree frugally. The recipe is simple and the results can be used year after year!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 Cups of Flour
  • 1 Cup of Salt
  • 1 1/2 Cups Hot Water
  • Holiday Cookie Cutters
  • Any Decorations i.e. paint, glitter, buttons.
  • Microwave
  1. Step 1

First combine all ingredients (water, flour and salt) into a bowl. Knead together until the dough forms.

  2. Step 2

Place a little extra flour on your surface of choice and roll the dough out flat just as if you where making cookies. Cut out your designs and place them aside. Some designs that would give a little more variety in decorating might include gingerbread men, snowmen, and Christmas trees.

  3. Step 3

Re-roll the dough with it's remains. Repeat step 2 until no dough is left.

  4. Step 4

Place the "cookies" on a FLAT microwave safe plate and microwave on high for approximately two minutes.

  5. Step 5

    Let the ornaments cool.

  6. Step 6

Once they are cool to the touch, decorate them to your heart's content!
    Have fun!
