2. When you consider bedding for a Victorian room, you should think quilts. There are many patterns available. You can choose a simple square pattern or go more advanced with intricate designs like a star or wedding ring pattern. Flannel sheets also go great with this style of bedding. Quilts now come in many different thicknesses and qualities. The higher the quality the longer the set will last. You can also choose to have a few different quilts using similar material but different patterns. If you do this your daughter can change the look of her room more often.

3. When choosing Victorian furniture, it should have the distressed look of an antique. You can choose to search antique stores for a matching set, or there are furniture makers who design this style. In most cases a rustic painted look is best. You might consider an off white color, with intricate hardware. You should have not only a bed and dresser, but also a writing desk and antique stand alone mirror.

4. To add the perfect touch to any Victorian room you will want antique art and accessories. The art does not have to be antique but it should appear to be. You can also include a bookcase with old manuscripts and books. There are even companies that will take books popular in today's culture and assemble them using old bindings and leathers (find a resource below in the Resources section). Flowers are also a must in any Victorian room. You can use fake flowers but they will need to be high quality as to look real. You might also consider live plants that flower throughout the year.

5. When designing this old time room you should use authentic lighting and fixtures. You might even consider antique lamps that have been converted to use electricity. Another great aspect of a Victorian room is a wood floor. You can buy old wood to lay down an authentic floor. You might even try to find wood that has recently been taken out of a church or commercial building as they often will have better maintained wood. Then add in a throw rug. Special touches like candles and rag dolls can add the special touch to any room in this style. You might even consider a heavily brocaded canopy to be hung over the bed. A fireplace would also add a beautiful touch to this type of room.
