Granola bars are a great treat to add to lunch boxes or to snack on at home. With this recipe, you can make your own chewy granola bars in your kitchen instead of buying the expensive ones at the store.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats, not instant
  • 1/4 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup crisp rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  1. Step 1

Mix together the oats, coconut, crisp rice cereal, and chocolate chips.

  2. Step 2

In another bowl, mix the salt, vanilla, butter, honey and brown sugar until everything is evenly blended.

  3. Step 3

Pour the dry mix into the wet mix and blend together. This mix is stiff so you may need to use your hands.

  4. Step 4

Press this granola bar mix into an 8x8 inch square pan.

  5. Step 5

Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Pull the pan out and wait for the granola bars to set before you cut them into bars.

  7. Step 7

For peanut butter flavored granola bars, substitute 1/4 cup peanut butter for the honey. For raisin cinnamon granola bars, add 1 tsp cinnamon and substitute 1/4 cup raisins for the coconut.
