Europeana.eu is fantastic new digital collection of European history. It is a collaborative effort of some of the world's great museums and libraries, along with other European institutions and governments. More than two million items -- including films, photos, paintings, sound recordings, maps, manuscripts, books, newspapers and archival papers -- have been digitized and are freely available.

  3. Step 3

Choose a language to conduct a search or browse europeana.com (language choice is in the upper right corner).

  4. Step 4
    Hitler's Mein Kampf at Europeana

Explore the site, as if you were a tourist travelling through Europe's history. Tours can be arranged along a timeline, in a particular country or region of Europe, or along a chosen theme, such as art or architecture. Tour ancient Anglo-Saxon ruins, cathedrals and churches in Germany, the great museums of France, or the dramatic newspaper accounts and propaganda posters of World Wars I and II.

  5. Step 5

Book mark europeana.eu and add it to your Favorites. Millions more items will be added to the collection in the months and years ahead. This is a site to visit, and revisit, time and again.
