TRICKS OF THE TRADE FROM A FORMER POOL SERVICE PROFESSIONAL

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • SAFETY GLASSES
  1. Step 1

If you're unsure of how to easily and safely open the top of your DE filter for servicing...this is the trick. Be sure to get a friend to assist you the first time.

  2. Step 2

Turn off the pump and remove the band clamp from around the filter. Open the air bleeder and let most of the water drain out...at least below the band clamp level so you don't get wet when it comes apart

  3. Step 3

Once the water is low enough in the filter one of you grab the top pressure gauge with one hand ans hold the top down with your other hand.

  4. Step 4

While holding the top FIRMLY have your friend switch on the pump. DON"T LET GO! The pressure from the pump will "pop" the top loose and if you don't hold it tightly...it may go flying

  5. Step 5

Turn off the pump quickly! ...otherwise water will come out of the filter all over!
