How to Print Pretend Money

Printing money is obviously illegal, but printing pretend money is not! People use pretend money all of the time, for education, games and fantasy, as well as pretend poker money. It's ok to print money as long as it's a different size than the real thing. That's why you sometimes see those really large-sized bills, that have all the same exact detailing of a normal sized one. If you want to print pretend money, follow the steps below and you'll be all set!

    • A PDF reader
    • A Printer (color preferred)

Visit www.freestuff4kids.net (see resources below) via your internet broswer.

Select between the bills that are provided, the one dollar bill, five dollar bill and the ten dollar bill. After you click your selection, this will prompt you to open a PDF file containing three of the denomination you choose. Choose save to disk and make sure you know where you have saved the .pdf file so you can access and print it.

Use your PDF reader to print pretend money as much as you want. I recommend printing a few pages worth so you can have a nice amount of pretend money to play with.

After you're finished playing with your pretend money, I recommend storing them for later, so you will not waste paper and have it readily available for next time.

For coins, you will have to visit www.abcteach.com (see resources below) and you can easily print that page from your web browser's print command. Cut our the coins and start playing!

    Tips & Warnings

    • Try printing the pretend money on a stiffer piece of paper so that it will last longer.

    • Also, try printing the money on a green sheet of paper for a cooler effect!

    • If you were playing a game with teams, you could print out a set of money for each team using different colored paper to easily identify each team's money! Awesome!

I need to print out some for the fifth graders in my class. Tomorrow, we're doing a history simulation of taxation that requires the kids to be rolling in dough!
