Lose Weight on the Cabbage Soup Diet

The cabbage soup diet was a popular fad in the 90's and 80's, but many who lost weight on it, still swear by it. It's a healthy way to shed pounds after a holiday binge or as a way to cleanse your body periodically.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cabbage
  • onions, garlic, carrots, celery, leeks, tomatoes, chicken boullion, spices
  • wheat toast
  • eggs
  • grapefruit
  1. Step 1

Begin every morning with two eggs and a grape fruit. You can cook the eggs any way you like and can add as many vegetables as you wish, except for potatoes. Drink a glass of coffee, juice, tea, or 1% milk.

  2. Step 2

For lunch, have as many bowls of cabbage soup as you want, but limit yourself to one piece of wheat toast. If you make the cabbage soup yourself, cook it using only the vegetables listed; don't add potatoes, pasta, or rice to the soup. You can drink what you had for breakfast.

  3. Step 3

For dinner, repeat what you had for lunch. You can make a red soup using tomato broth and red cabbage.

  4. Step 4

For the first few days on the diet you will likely get hungry between meals. Have an apple to satisfy yourself until the next meal. Only drink water between meals. After two weeks of the diet combined with exercise, you should be noticeably slimmer.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a crash diet and not meant for long term use! Try it for two or three weeks until you see results. To maintain a healthy weight for the rest of your life, you must eat right everyday and exercise on a regular basis.
