Putting in running boards on your truck is not a difficult job, with a few proper tools, it can be completed in just a few minutes.

Most truck running board come in a kit that will help you line the up properly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Truck Running Boards
  • Bolts or Screws
  • A Flat Tip Screw Drive or a basic socket set
  1. Step 1

Ok, for most trucking running boards, you will run into two general types. 1) The type that is installed with screws, or 2) the type that are installed with bolts.

You could possibly subsitute the screw driver with a drill if you have one. It only speeds up the process.

For step one, get out your tools and necessary items. Open up your running boards and line them up under each door. Make sure they are the right running boards for your truck before you try to install them. They should fit snuggly under the frame below your front doors.

  2. Step 2

For step two, you will need to figure out whether your truck already has holes drilled out for the running boards to be secured by. Often, most trucks can come with the option of running boards and so they will already have pre drilled the holes there.

If they did not do this, your next step is to drill the holes into the frame or body area that the running boards snug up to. Make sure it is a solid places that will not flex or bend when you put weight on it.

  3. Step 3

Step there is pretty self explainatory.

Drill, screw or bolt the running board into place.

Make sure to step on the running boards a couple of times and put all your weight onto to them to make sure they are steady and secure. You might even want to have a couple of your heavier friends come and try them out to make sure they will sustain any passengers using them.

    Ta Da!

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch your fingers! It is easy to get one pinched while you are screwing the boards into place.
  • Make sure the running boards can sustain the weight of anyone you might have getting into the truck. Its not pretty when someone else steps on them and they get ripped off of the truck.
