Step 1
Every sunday buy the newspaper. Read the store circulars, search for sale items you need and coupons that you can use. Shop sales and stockpile food, necessities and bottled water. This will help you to feel secure in case of any kind of emergency. Websites such as coupons.com and wowcoupons.com can also help you save money.
-
Step 2
Every month when you begin the process of paying your bills, take one bill and reduce it. It is also helpful to make a list of your bills and figure out which ones you can reduce. It is also a good idea to have some cash on hand, and saved nearby for emergencies.
-
Step 3
Make a list of where your money goes. Keep a small notebook or file for this purpose. By writing down what you spend money on, you will be better able to see where you can reduce unnecessary spending. During these economic times, reducing spending on unnecessary items is essential for living comfortably.
-
Step 4
Shop for groceries in bulk, and eat at home more often. Buy staples such as cheese, macaroni, beans, rice, and meat. These items will last a long time. Meats can be frozen and used anytime. Items such as bread and dairy can be bought as you need them as they have freshness dates. Think of meals you can make and freeze. Not only will you save tons of money, but a lot of time that you can be using for other more important things. Eating out, or ordering takeout can still be done just once in a while to save money overall.
-
Step 5
Put together a journal. In it write down ways that you can make extra money and add to your income. This would be a perfect time to start a business. Is there something you have always been wanting to do, a hobby you are great at? There is no better time than the present. A recession is a good time to create something good out of something unpleasant.
-
Step 6
Update your resume during this downtime. Consider a new line of work or something you have always wanted to do. If you have lost your job, now would be a great time to try working in a new career.
-
Step 7
Remember that recession is only temporary. Good things are ahead. It is my personal opinion from experience that good things happen in the economy when a democrat is president. I have witnessed total growth of the economy in the phase that occured when the last democrat was president. Good things are to come.

on 8/4/2009 I work from home doing surveys. Money - depends on how much time I spend. I made 234 $ last month. I know it's now much, but its something, because I have to stay home anyways taking care of my baby. http://cashcrate.com/1381620 This website is the best one I found so far for doing surveys and making some money. Try it out - i was skeptical at first, but it changed when I got a check in the mail.
