How to Get Married On a Tight Budget

Getting married can be a costly affair, but few people in their right mind (and many people out of it) want to spend an excess of funds on one day. For those of you with tight budgets this is the way to go.

• Your finacee, as this will require some serious decisions.

Instructions

1. Establish your budget with a real dollar amount, and get ready to make tough choices.

2. Choose a wedding date and time. To get the best price avoid Friday night and Saturday night, Summer months and Holidays in order to get the best price.

3. Limit your catering and bar bills. It is perfectly ok to skip out on the appetizers hour before a reception and to limit (or remove) the number of drinks served at your reception.

4. If possible get a pre-owned dress or use a dress rental service to save substantially on this one time cost. Use your yellow pages to find those shops.

5. Skip on the DJ and use your Ipod for the music.

6. If you have talent do your own flowers or table centerpieces using materials (eg. Silk flowers, fall gourds, glass beads) to make personalized centerpieces at a reduced cost.

7. Self print your invitations, kits are available at craft stores and most big box retailers. Failing that use Evites or invitation post cards to save on postage, allow guests to RSVP by phone.

8. Save on guests favors by using a self assembly kit, available from money retailers online.

9. Enjoy your wedding day.
