Things You'll Need:
- 1 cup ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup applesauce
- cookie cutters
- ribbon
- wire rack
- tube paint (optional)
-
Step 1
Combine 1 cup ground cinnamon with 3/4 cup applesauce to form a stiff dough, adjusting the ingredients as needed.
-
Step 2
Roll out the dough to 1/4 in. thickness. If you don't have a rolling pin, use the side of a glass.
-
Step 3
Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
-
Step 4
Make a hole for a ribbon loop to hang them (I used a straw to make the hole)
-
Step 5
Carefully place on a wire rack to dry. Let them air dry for several days, turning over occasionally.
-
Step 6
I have lots of tube paints so I let her decorate them too. They are supposed to be natural but the paint adds a colorful touch that she liked. She is really creative when it comes to design. I just see the basics but she really puts a lot into it.

Step 7
Here's another example of a cinnamon ornament.

on 8/25/2009 Beautiful idea - we also hot-glued little bells, stars, and colored balls on our ornaments. My daughter sprinkled hers with glitter before drying them. Lovely!!
