During hard economic times, anxiety and stress can get the best of you--influencing your daily life, work and relationships. It is important to fight this anxiety--which can give you feelings of helplessness, guilt and even depression. By leading a productive, satisfying life, you can alleviate some of your worrying and feel happier.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write out your goals and financial plans. What is making you anxious and what do you need to accomplish to relieve that anxiety? What is keeping you from accomplishing these goals? Write out your financial budget and look at your situation realistically. Don't avoid bills and financial obligations. By truly facing your stress and looking at it on paper, you can start to organize out a plan of attack.

  2. Step 2

Be pro-active. Don't just talk, be serious and take action. Implement a daily plan to work towards your goals. Not only will it get you once step closer, but it will ease your mind. You can't get anywhere if don't take a step forward every day.

  3. Step 3

Take comfort in friends and family--many people are in similar situations and everyone can use the support, both financially and emotionally. Although not everyone may be able to offer a loan, connecting with a loved one and just having someone to talk to during a stressful time eases anxiety.

  4. Step 4

Focus on eating a balanced diet, exercising and getting a good night's sleep. These three acts of human nature are fairly inexpensive and will help you lead a healthy lifestyle. If you are physically deprived, you are more apt to feel emotionally deprived as well.

  5. Step 5

Make your happiness a priority in your life. There is no need to deprive yourself because the economy (and money) is tight, just live within your means. Don't try to live somewhere that is beyond your budget, don't make purchases that you can't afford but still live a life that makes you happy everyday. Don't underestimate how much more productive and successful you can be if you are happy with your life first.
