How to Clean Synthetic Hair

Synthetic hair is made from synthetic fibers. Due to their distinct composition, you must treat synthetic hairs differently than you do your natural hair. While synthetic hair tends to be more durable than human hair, you must treat it properly for it to last. If you wear your synthetic wig or hairpieces for several hours daily, you should clean them every 2 weeks. Remove the pieces from your head prior to cleaning them.

Use your hands to distribute the solution throughout the individual synthetic hairs.

    • 5

Remove the hair and throw out the soapy water.

    • 6

Rinse the synthetic hair in a new bowl of cool, clean water.

    • 7

Squeeze excess water from the hairpieces.

    • 8

Lay the synthetic hair on paper towels, allowing it to air dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • For additional softness, use a synthetic-hair conditioner after cleansing.

  • Do not brush or style the synthetic hair while it's wet. It may lead to long-term damage. Never use any heated styling devices on synthetic hair. Heat can cause extensive breakage.
