How to Defeat the Cult Leader Boss in Dead Rising

The masses of undead zombies that swarm around the mall in which the Xbox 360 survival horror game Dead Rising takes place aren't the only horror element present in the game. There are plenty of bosses you will have to battle with who also follow standard horror archetypes, such as the cult leader who tries to sacrifice people to a higher power to stave off the zombie apocalypse. To defeat the cult leader boss, you will need to pay attention to his attack patterns and hit him when he is off-guard.

Things You'll Need:

• Xbox 360 game console

1. 
    
   The guitar shop

   Play through the game until midnight on the third day of your main character's stay in the mall. Head into the area called Paradise Plaza and grab two electric guitars from the guitar shop. Go up the stairs next door and take several jugs of orange juice from the coffee shop.

2. 
    
   The movie theater

   Go to the west end of the plaza and enter the movie theater.

3. 
    
   The cultists

   Walk through the main hallway until you run into a group of cultists in raincoats. Attack them from a distance with a gun if you already have one; otherwise, run directly into the group and attack them with a guitar. Run away when one of them raises his hands into the air, as that is the indicator that he is about to blow up the stick of dynamite he is holding.

4. 
    
   The fourth screen

   Head into the room marked with the large number "4" and watch the cut-scene that will occur, in which you will see the cult leader sacrificing people on his impromptu altar.

5. 
    
   Fighting the boss

   Approach the cult leader slowly, so he will run after you. Dodge to the side when he either jumps into the air or slides on his knees toward you. Turn slightly to the side and attack with the guitar three times. Run in the other direction immediately after landing the third hit; repeat the process until you defeat the boss. Walk outside the theater and use the orange juice to heal yourself if you accidentally timed your attacks wrong and the boss was able to strike you with his sword.

Tips & Warnings

• Examine the cult leader's body after defeating him to take his sword and use it as your own weapon. You can use a weapon other than the guitar to defeat the boss, but the guitar works best because it hits with both the original swing and the return swing.
• Be careful to avoid the railings on the first set of movie-theater seats, as they are hard to see because of how dark it is in the room.
