Replacing RV lights can be a simple operation, if all you need is a change of light bulbs. All light bulbs wear out eventually, so it helps to know how to do it yourself to save on shop labor costs.

Instructions

  1. Changing the Exterior Lights on an RV

      Set up your ladder so that it is safe to climb.

      Pop the cover off the light that needs a replacement bulb, by simply squeezing the top and bottom of the light cover. There are tabs in the RV light cover that hold it in place.

      Unscrew the existing bulb, and put in the new one.

      Replace the protective cover after wiping it free of dust and dirt.

    Replacing Interior Light Bulbs

      Look at how the fixture is assembled. You may need to unscrew the cover of the light to get it off to access the light bulb.

      Remove the bad bulb, and replace it with a new one once you have the light cover off.

      Clean the light's cover, and replace.

Tips & Warnings

  • LED lights use very little electricity, and they can be used inside RVs. Check to see if you can add LED lights to your RV. They take up very little room, and their power demands are exceedingly low, which is important when you are running lights off your battery backup system.
