Easy, eye-catching holiday arrangements. That will brighten any holiday table.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two 12" candles
  • 1 dozen red Fresh or silk Flowers
  • 1 dozen of white silk or fresh flowers
  • Foam
  • Circular plate
  • Florist's wire & tape
  • Toothpicks
  • Ribbon
  • Pine cone
  • Holly and ivy
  • Spruce and fir
  • Holiday ornarment
  1. Step 1

Florist's foam provides the anchor. Soak in water before use and place in a shallow waterproof dish on top of the platter. Using florist's tape, secure the damp foam to the dish. Push a candle into the center and add the other candle next to it.Poke the spruce and fir around the edge of the foam.

  2. Step 2

Cut short sprigs of holly and ivy and use them to fill the sides and the center of the display. Twist wire around pine cones, so that twisted wire ends protrude. Push the twisted wire end of the pine cones into the foam, close to the base of the candles and between the sprigs of fir. Turn the dish while working so that it looks even from all angles

  3. Step 3

Cut the flower stems to about 6" and push them in around the base of the candles. Cut the stems at an angle to help absorb water- do not slit or bash them as this will make them harder to insert.

  4. Step 4

Skewer the holiday ornaments on toothpick and place in the centerpiece. Place ribbon around the centerpiece to fill in hole, to keep ribbon in place use toothpicks.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you use fresh flowers. Keep the display fresh by spraying it with plant spray everyday. Keep the foam moist by adding water to the dish from time to time
  • Use non-drip candles that will not spatter the display with wax when they are replaced.
  • Candlelight adds a dramatic effect but never leave burning candles unattended or within reach of small children or pets.
  • Replace candles when they have burned to within 2" of the foliage.
