Things You'll Need:
- 2 16 oz bags of Pepperidge Farm Herb Seasoned Stuffing mix.
- Turkey broth from your turkey
- Water
- Very large bowl or pan
- spoon
- Self Rising white corn meal (to make cornbread)
- 1/4 cup of chopped sweet onions
- 2 13x9 pans or one large roaster pan
- 1/2 tsp of poultry seasoning (you may need more than this)
- You will also need to have the rest of the ingredients to make the corn bread which should be one or two eggs, vegetable oil and milk.
- Vegetable oil for frying onions (1 TBSP)
- 1 can of chicken broth (if needed)
- Butter
-
Step 1
First, you will need to make a batch of corn bread with your self rising corn meal. Look on the back of the corn meal mix and make sure there is a recipe for it. Follow the recipe. When done cooking, let the corn bread cool well, then crumble it up and set aside.
-
Step 2
Next, brown onions in a small fry pan with a little oil (1 TBSP of vegetable oil). Make sure they are cooked all the way through too. Set them aside. Then, you will need to take the Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix and follow the instructions on the back of it for how much broth or water that it tells you to use. For example if it says to use 2 cups of water, you will use 4 cups of what you have which should be some turkey or chicken broth and if need be use water for the remaining if you run out of broth. You will need butter too unless you have broth from a butter ball turkey.
-
Step 3
Take all ingredients and mix in a very large bowl. This will be the corn bread that you made, the Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, the onions, poultry seasoning, broth, and salt and pepper to taste. You can mix this in two pans or two large bowls then combine them later. If you like your dressing moist, just add more broth or add water to it to make it more moist before cooking it. If it needs more poultry seasoning, add more.
-
Step 4
Next, preheat the oven to 375 and press the stuffing mix into a large pan or two pans and cook them for about 15-20 minutes or until the top is a little crispy.
