We are all either trying to save money or make extra money these days. It really takes a lot of skill to maneuver the on line scams we come across every day. There are things to look for as warnings so that you are not scammed. I will tell you about one online scam that you can avoid.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Be observant
  • Be slow to give our your credit card information to any company you don't know
  1. Step 1

Beware of all Companies Buying Processes:
Acai Berry Products are sold as a weight loss product. The trick is, they offer the product for a "free" trial period. Now in order to get this "free" trial, you have to give your credit card information to pay the small shipping charges.

  2. Step 2

Don't be Seduced by the Come Back Pop-Up:
I have been to this site before and when I tried to leave, I got a pop up saying "don't Leave" offer the product for cheaper shipping and handling.

  3. Step 3

Remember free Doesn't Necessarily Mean Free:
You think it is a deal, so you give them your credit card information. You forget about the trial period and the following month you get an expensive charge on you credit card! They count on your forgetting and they make tons of money because you wanted something free. I'm glad I didn't snag me!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't give anyone your credit card information unless you know who they are
  • When someone offers something for free, beware!

on 11/23/2008 Good information! Whenever I sign up for a "free" trial of anything that requires a credit card number, I think long and hard about it, and if I still decide to go through with it, I mark the calendar for 3 days before the end of the trial period, and write in any important contact information I may need. They also try to make it difficult to find them again and you have to search to find out how to disengage sometimes. I'm glad you've brought this to our attention. 5 stars!
