Make a Snowman Champagne Cork Christmas Ornament

Save money during the holidays and make Christmas ornaments from champagne corks. Here are directions to make a champagne cork snowman. Save your corks when celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve and other holidays.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Champagne Cork
  • White, Black and Orange Acrylic Paints
  • Paint brushes
  • Wood Craft disk, 1 1/2 inch diameter
  • Metal screw top lid (soda)
  • Hammer and small nail
  • String for a hanger
  • Scrap colorful material for snowman scarf
  • Tacky glue
  1. Step 1

With the nail and hammer, tap gently into the top center of the metal bottle cap lid. to pierce a small hole for your hanger.

  2. Step 2

On a protected surface, paint the champagne cork white, and paint the bottle cap and wood disk black.

  3. Step 3

Run both ends of your string into the hole on the metal cap, and knot on the inside of the lid so it is secure. A thicker string ensures it from pulling through the bottle cap.

  4. Step 4

Glue the bottom edges of the metal bottle cap to the wood disk and let dry.

  5. Step 5

Cut a small piece of fabric or ribbon and glue around the middle of your painted cork for the snowman's scarf, with the larger half of the cork at the bottom.

  6. Step 6

At the upper half of the cork, paint on two eyes and a mouth with the black paint, and a nose with the orange paint. A toothpick works great for this.

  7. Step 7

Glue the black hat, that has been drying, onto the flat top portion of the painted cork. Let dry completely.
