How to Navigate Epcot's Future World

Walt Disney World's Epcot is divided into two main sections, Future World and World Showcase. Future World is directly devoted to the "experimental prototype community of tomorrow" (EPCOT) fundamentals that Epcot was founded on. Through a variety of rides and attractions throughout Future World, guests can experience ocean life, how to respect and understand the land, where an imagination's journey can take you, personal health, energy conservation, various forms of communication, space exploration and the evolution of transportation.

      Entering Epcot puts you right in Future World and staring at the park's first main attraction, Spaceship Earth. Housed inside the iconic "Epcot ball," Spaceship Earth takes guests on a slow-moving journey through the evolution of communication via a continuous loading people-mover. The end of this ride was recently revamped and now allows guests to create their own "future world" on touch-screens in front of them. Since this ride continuously loads, wait times are never lengthy even at the height of the day, however consider avoiding at park opening time since many guests head there first since its the first attraction they come across.

      Bear left and experience Ellen's Energy Adventure. Ride with TV star Ellen DeGeneres as she time travels back to the dinosaur era and teaches about evolution and energy. Continuous 45-minute shows run all day.

      Continue left to blast into space via Mission: Space. One of Epcot's newer attractions, Mission: Space allows riders to choose which intensity they'd like to experience as they enter the galaxy. Being a part of the Orange Team offers more intense training as visitors experience exact simulation as they blast off to Mars; being a member of the Green Team offers a less intense training session so visitors can blastoff with out the spinning (the main element that can cause motion sickness among some riders). An intensely popular attraction, Mission: Space should be ridden early or FastPass should be utilized to minimize wait time.

      Keep making your circle around Future World by stopping next at Test Track. The longest and fastest attraction in all of Disney World, Test Track places you as a crash test dummy on a world class track as you test out your car as you battle tests of elements, speed and fun. One of the major headliner attractions in all of Disney World, wait times are lengthy all day and FastPasses can sell out within an hour or two of the park's opening time so be sure to ride as early as you can or obtain a FastPass to ride later in the day.

      Head back towards the Epcot ball and make a stop at the Innoventions pavilion. This hands-on interactive exhibit allows guests to experience and play with some of the "tools of tomorrow." Consider eating inside this pavilion at the Electric Umbrella and pick up a burger, sandwich or salad.

      Head over to the right of the Epcot ball to experience The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Hop on board a "clam mobile" and journey under the sea to find Nemo. See digitally-imposed images of Marlin, Dory, Nemo and all their undersea pals among displays of the real-life fish in this exhibit. Once exiting the ride, be sure to stop in the interactive Turtle Talk with Crush show and let the kids ask Crush some of their burning questions about sea turtles and their friends. Making a reservation at the Coral Reef Restaurant will provide you with an upscale dining option and a great view of the fish tank as you dine on exquisite steak and seafood entrees.

      Heading to the far right of Future World puts you in the Land pavilion. Here guests can fly high with Soarin', a simulated hang glider adventure for all ages. One of the newer attractions in Epcot, wait times can get very lengthy so try to ride early or take advantage of FastPass. ake a leisurely boat right through Living with the Land and see how Disney's amazing greenhouses and fish farm is operated. Consider taking the Behind the Seeds guided tour, which takes you on a walking tour through the Living with the Land ride and lets guests sample fresh grown vegetables and understand a bit better how the greenhouses work. The Circle of Life video shown in this pavilion stars Timone and Pumba and teaches a great lesson about recycling and respecting the environment. If you want to snack while experiencing the Land, head downstairs to The Garden Grill or Sunshine Seasons for sandwiches, burgers, salad, wood-fire specials and a variety of desserts.

      End your time in Future World by taking a trip into the Imagination area. The 3-D show Honey I Shrunk the Audience puts guests as the main targets of Wayne Szalinski's latest experiment and experience what its really life to be tiny while battling dogs, ants and other such environmental elements. Journey into the Imagination with Figment puts guests inside Figment's imagination, on a ride that will engage the senses and your own imagination. ImageWorks provides a hands-on play area for the younger ones to stretch their own imagination after learning how to from Figment.
