Things You'll Need:
- Tinsel
- Garland
- Non-breakable Christmas Tree Ornaments
- Ornament Hooks
-
Step 1
Divide kids up into even teams. No more than four preschoolers to a team works best. You will need at least two teams of two in order to participate in this holiday activity. Don’t worry if you have an uneven amount of participants either. It won’t make a difference if the teams are slightly uneven.
-
Step 2
Supply each team with an equal amount of tinsel, garland, ornaments and ornament hooks.
-
Step 3
Have each team choose a kid to be the tree.
-
Step 4
Once each team has designated a “tree,” give them approximately five minutes to decorate their human tree with the supplies provided.
Note: Adjust the amount of time given to decorate based on the overall progress of the participants. For example: If after five minutes, it looks like most of the kids need more time, tack on a few minutes. If after three minutes, it appears that most of the kids are finishing up, call time. -
Step 5
Time’s up! Time to pick a winner. Choose the winning team based on whose “tree” is not only the most creatively decorated, but closest to being completely decorated.
-
Step 6
Award the winning team with a special prize. A holiday ornament to compliment the holiday party activity’s theme is a good choice. Give all of the kids a candy cane for participating.
