1
Make some flash cards to study to pass the rural mail carrier postal exam. Get out your blank index cards and your markers.
-
2
Open up a zip code directory in a phone book. Find the pages that list addresses for zip codes something like this, 00034 Hunter Street 100-499, 00035 Hunter Street 500-999, 00036 Hunter Street 1000-1499.

3
On one side of five different index cards write one zip code such as 00035. Make four more sets that each have a different zip code such as 00036, 00037, 00038, 00039. You do not need to use real zip codes or real addresses as long as you use ranges.
-
4
Turn the cards over and write address ranges on the other side. Be sure to have ranges with the same street name, just different number ranges, in several zip codes. Like in the previous step 00034 Hunter Street 100-499, 00035 Hunter Street 500-999, 00036 Hunter Street 1000-1499.
-
5
Practice memorizing the cards and putting them in order of zip code without looking on the back. Children in school use this study method all the time to improve their memorization skills. This technique is used in the rural carrier postal exam because rural carriers need to memorize addresses to make correct mail deliveries.
