Things You'll Need:
- Water Unscented personal hygiene items Soy Flaxseed
-
Step 1
Take care of the basics. Drink sufficient water throughout the day to prevent your becoming dehydrated. Get moderate, but not excessive, exercise. Get sufficient sleep at night.
-
Step 2
Avoid or reduce the amount of chemicals and fragrances that come in contact with the genital area, including douches, treated sanitary napkins or adult diapers, harsh or scented soaps and underwear washed in scented laundry detergent. Vaginal lubrication may decrease due to contact with these sources of chemical agents. Purchase unscented and fragrance-free personal hygiene items.
-
Step 3
Add soy to your diet, if you tolerate it well. Soy products have isoflavones, which may increase vaginal lubrication. Soy mixed with flaxseed can be a potent combination that mimics the natural action of estrogen, a hormone that increases vaginal lubrication.
-
Step 4
Work with your partner to increase your arousal if you experience vaginal dryness during sex. Discomfort, nervousness, anxiety, exhaustion and stress can inhibit your arousal and natural production of lubrication. Openly and honestly discuss with your partner your feelings and desires so you get more enjoyment out of, and feel more comfortable with, sex. Initially, using an over-the-counter lubricant such as petroleum jelly or a natural lubricant that is glycerin-based can help increase your pleasure, decrease your pain, and ultimately relax you. As you grow more at ease with your partner, try to go without the lubricant.
