Write Thanksgiving Thank You Notes with Kids

It’s never too soon to teach your kids to write thank you notes, and there’s no better time than Thanksgiving. Help your kids write thank you notes to special family members and friends this Thanksgiving, thanking them for the wonderful people they are and the wonderful things they do. The Thanksgiving thank you note activity is a heartfelt way for your kids to show others how much he/she cares about them, and is the perfect activity to help kids count their blessings. The Thanksgiving thank you note activity also makes a cherished holiday tradition from preschool to adulthood.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thanksgiving or Fall-themed Note Cards
  • A Pen
  1. Step 1

Sit down with your kids and explain to them that you are going to write thank you notes to special family members and friends to let them know how much they are appreciated this Thanksgiving and all year around.

  2. Step 2

Have your kids choose a person they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

  3. Step 3

Ask your kids to tell you why they are thankful for that person. Write down what they say in one of the note cards if they are too young to write themselves. Use their exact words as much as possible. It may be helpful to start out saying “I’m thankful for (Grandma) because,” and have your child finish the sentence.

  4. Step 4

Help your kids put the note card in the envelope, seal it and address it.

  5. Step 5

Show your kids where to place the stamp on each envelope.

  6. Step 6

Take your kids to the mailbox and let them put the cards into the mailbox. You may opt to hand deliver note cards in person with your kids.
