As the holder of an SBI credit card, you might one day want to cancel it for some reason. You might have paid the card and no longer wish to use it, or you might be feeling the interest is too high and do not want to have the card any longer. There are several steps you have to follow to cancel your SBI card.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pay off your SBI bill. You cannot cancel the credit card until you have paid off the entire bill. Since the SBI card is from the biggest bank in India, it is very hard to find another card company that will take on your balance. So the best thing you can do before you cancel the card is to make sure that the bill is paid off.

  2. Step 2

Request a copy of the SBI statement so you can ascertain that your card is paid off. You can do this by visiting their website or by calling them via phone. From Delhi, the number is (800) 180 1290. Anywhere else, the number is 39 02 02 02. You will need to call to request a statement.

  3. Step 3

Once you are sure the balance is zero, you will need to either call SBI or visit their website to request that your card be canceled. You can do this at the customer-care center at their website, or at the phone numbers listed above.
